
John Mayberry Jr. hit his first big league home run at Yankee Stadium. Mayberry Jr. a newcomer to the Philadelphia Phillies, hit the ball over the fence, but it did not make a win for his team. The Phillies ended up losing to the Yankees with a score of 5 -4.
John Mayberry Jr, is the son of former slugger for the Yankees, John Mayberry Sr, who was in the audience rooting for his sons team.
Mayberry was drafted by the Mariners back in 2002, just out of high school, but was never, officially signed onto the team. He had a full scholarship with Stanford and when an agreement on his signing bonus was never completed, he just finished out with his schooling.
The 25 yr old Mayberry, made his debut for the Phillies Saturday with his first home run and ended up at the end of the game with 3 RBI's.
