Peter Tork, former Monkees band member was diagnosed with a rare form of tongue cancer called Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma. It is normally found in a persons' salivary glands.
Tork had surgery this past Wednesday and is now set to undergo radiation treatment. He is expected to have full recovery. He says he is grateful for all the well wishers and the support that he has had from friends and family...
Tork was an original member of the Monkees who formed their band in 1966 with their hits 'Last Train to Clarksville' and 'Daydream Believer.'
These days, Tork writes an advice column at a Web site called The Daily Panic, and has a new band called Shoe Suede Blues, but primarily pulls solo gigs. He is planning a tour with Shoe Suede Blues this summer. Tour dates are to be determined at a later date.
Til then, hopefully this former Monkee, Peter Tork, will have a full and uneventful recovery.
